Optometrist (B.Optom, UNSW & M.C.Optom, UK)
Peter obtained his Optometry degree from the University of New South Wales in 1981 and worked in Oxford, England for seven years where he obtained the English Fellowship. He is also a member of the British College of Optometrists M.B.C.O. M.C.Optom (UK).
Peter is a Fellow of the Australian College of Optometry and is a member of the OAA and the CCLSA and has a special interest in eye disease and contact lenses.
Peter opened Forestway Optometry, offering a full range of optometry services, in 1993 and has been looking after the Forest community ever since.
Optometrist (B.Optom, UNSW, GradCertOcThera, UNSW)
Barney received his Bachelor of Optometry from the University of New South Wales in 2007 and later completed the Graduate Certificate for Ocular Therapeutics. After several years practicing at regional and rural locations around Australia, Barney returned to Sydney.
Barney is a member of the OAA and practices full scope optometry. He has special interest in, and passion for, anterior eye diseases.
Optometrist (B.Optom, UNSW)
Stephanie completed a Bachelor of Optometry at the University of New South Wales in 2007. After graduation, she spent her first few years in Coffs Harbour before returning to Sydney to be closer to her family.
Stephanie is a member of the Optometry Association of Australia. She practises full scope optometry, and has a keen interest in children's vision, firmly believing that good vision is vital for a child's learning and development.
Practice Manager (Opthalmic Dispenser and Contact Lens Instructor)
Sean has a degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing & is a Dispensing Optician with 13 years experience. He
is focused on ensuring your spectacles always meet the requirements of your individual lifestyle.
In our Practice Sean uses his extensive optical knowledge to support Peter in performing additional testing and answering questions relating to our clients' ocular health or visual requirements. As a fashion forward gentleman he can usually be seen encouraging people to be brave with their
frame choices whilst ensuring they fit with your own unique style.
Senior Optical Dispenser and Frame Stylist
Akiko completed the Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing in 2012 with a Course Winner Prize and ADOA Association of NSW Award. Prior to coming to Australia in 2007, she lived in Germany working in the insurance industry and as a freelance interpreter/translator.
In addition to having a strong eye for detail, being fluent in English, German and Japanese, she is a great asset to work in the multicultural community found on the Northern Beaches.
Practice Co-ordinator & Frame Stylist
Having previously worked for QANTAS as a flight attendant for 22 yrs, Karen joined the practice in 2010 bringing with her over 8 years of experience in optics.
Karen's natural flare for fashion and great sense of style enable her to offer clients expert advice in choosing the perfect frame for their face! Also, as a multifocal contact lens wearer and is very keen to pass on any feedback and tips to anyone else contemplating Multifocal contacts.
Marketing / Buyer
Julia , along with Akiko, chooses and buys the frame stock for Forestway Optometry and co-ordinates the behind the scenes running of the practice. She also manages the practice's social media, patient recall system and marketing.
She has a medical background having trained in Medical Imaging in London at major teaching hospitals; The Royal Free Hospital, St Thomas's Hospital and King's College Hospital.
She is a qualified Radiographer and Sonographer. Part of her training was at Moorefield's Eye Hospital, London. She has been living in Australia since 1989.
Luke has worked in the practice on a part-time basis, for the last four years. In that time he has attended numerous optical courses and is well position to assist our patients with frame selection, visual field screenings, retinal imaging, PD measurements as well as providing general advice on choosing the right frame for your prescription.
He is also great with information on prescription sunglasses - particularly our premium sunglasses range - Maui Jim's.
Grace has worked in the practice for three years, part-time. She has also attended numerous optical training courses and assists patients with frame selection, visual field screenings, retinal images, PD measurements as well as providing general advice on choosing the right frame for your prescription.
Grace is currently studying Science at Sydney University.
